Yeah I know this is an issue.
There is a re-factored version of this controller that is basicly done but I keep scope creeping and never releasing it as it's not "perfect". I know that I haven't released a fix for this for 3 years, I'm sorry 😭. The new controller has gone so far that it has evolved into a super fast movement shooter fps controller instead of a just a "basic" movement controller.

Currently I've finished:

• Implementing unity's new input system (thanks to aliakseikalosha's request)
• Proper roof detection (when crouching, so that you can't stand up under objects)
• Better floor detection (there were many edge cases)
• Coyote time
• Jump buffering
• Variable friction when sliding (dependent on speed)
• Falling speed cap
• Air strafing
• Bhoping
• Surfing
• Basic trimping
• Basic "zBlock" code to "stop" the player from bhoping

It fixes these known issues:

• Touching a wall can stick you to the wall at specific angles
• There is no slope normalisation so:
  • You will slowly slide down slopes
  • The characters movement vector will "walk" into the slop, instead of up the slope

It however removes:

• Smooth crouching
• Toggle crouching
• The need to tag all objects as "ground", now I'm instead using a negative check for "not_ground"
• Auto setup of player character

I'm leaning towards fixing the slope issue with the current FPS controller and create a new repo for the above controller... or I could instead completely replace the current outdated controller with the newer controller but disable the "source movement" by default.
