<div class="section-subheading text-muted"><p style="color:silver">The mission of the Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida (CBAOCF), otherwise known as Central Florida Bajans (CFL Bajans), is to encourage networking and to promote kinship among Barbadians (Bajans) living in Central Florida. Our association maintains avenues of communication between Barbadians in Central Florida and their homeland Barbados, and fosters educational, cultural, and business operations, to further the joint interests of Bajans in both regions in an open, friendly environment.<br></p>

<h2 class="section-heading">Who we are</h2>
<p class="large text-muted">The Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida (CBAOCF), otherwise known as the Central Florida Bajans (CFL Bajans), started in 1991, and currently has a membership affiliation of approximately 150 individuals. Over the past 27 years, we have made significant contributions to the local Central Florida community, and to charities, individuals, and schools in Barbados. This includes our adoption and support of the St. Lucy District Hospital in Barbados, and the offering of an annual scholarship to a worthy student of Bajan (Barbadian) heritage who resides in our local community.</p>

<p class="text-muted"><strong>President</strong></p>
<p class="text-muted">Dr. Dale Husbands has been a member of the association since its inception in 1991. He migrated to the U.S.A. in 1975. In 1980, Dale joined the United States Air Force as a computer specialist. Currently, he is a tenured professor at Valencia Community College, in Information Technology.</p>

<p class="text-muted">Mr. Dennis “Deputy” Morris is a retired Orange County Deputy Sheriff, having served twenty-three years both as a patrol deputy, and an elementary D.A.R.E. and middle school Resource Officer. After his retirement, he rekindled his love for real estate and is currently a realtor.</p>

<p class="text-muted">Marquez spent his early years between the parishes of St. Joseph, St.George, and St. Philip, before emigrating in 1997. To escape cold weather, he first moved to Melbourne, FL, before relocating to Orlando, Tampa, then back to Orlando. Currently, he works in Airport Operations at Orlando International Airport.</p>

<p class="text-muted">Michael N Roach has been a member of the association since 2010. He came to the USA as he was transferred with Marriott Corporation to New York in 1984. He moved to Florida in 1991 with The Ritz Carlton Hotels. Michael recently retired from the Walt Disney Company. </p>

Food is a big, <strong>BIG</strong> part of Barbadian culture, even <a href="https://www.buzzfeed.com/kelciewillis/things-all-people-from-barbados-know-to-be-true?utm_term=.em27xnPrz#.uo0DgMGxq" target="_blank" style="text-decoration:none">BuzzFeed</a> knows it! Bajan cuisine includes a unique blend of foods with African, Indian and British influences. The national dish is Cou-cou and flying fish. Cou-cou is made from cornmeal and okras. Although the national dish pairs it with flying fish in a tomato-based sauce, it is also commonly served with salt fish, smoked red herring, or stew.
