Move away from a fixed fuel‐type ID matrix and instead parameterise vegetation per cell with continuous characteristics (fuel load, moisture, structure, etc). Replace the incidence‐matrix of transition probabilities (fuel-type → fuel-type) with a formulation based on fire intensity, vegetation parameters and fire front characteristics. Allow users to supply a custom function (or plug‐in) that computes spread probability.
