The specification document for version 1.1 refers to the aim element and gives its origin as mlo:objective. However the XSD document does not define an aim element but instead has brought mlo:objective into its own namespace. As a result documents written according to the specification fail to validate against the XSD.

That is correct. This version of the XSD has not been formally assessed or approved. No changes have been made for more than 6 years. Please feel free to localise the binding for your own purposes.
