How can I use a custom metadata template with custom content styled correctly?

My attempts

Setup

I am trying to use a custom metadata template for displaying licensing info on the last slide of songs. The default metadata slide works fine and all the default information is displayed, but I'd prefer a custom appearance and content (e.g. removing the song key).

I've duplicated the default metadata template (let's call it "Meta 2") and set my style to use "Meta 2" for the "Metadata template".

Adjusting the styling

Some things work:

• the position of the textbox is respected
• text color is respected
• text size and font are respected

Adjusting the content

I then try to adjust the content. Using {meta_title} correctly places the song title on the last slide, but the text alignment (left justified) is not respected (the text is centered). {meta_year} shows correctly the year, but again, alignment is not respected. Vertical alignment is also not respected.

I expand this and try {meta_year}; {meta_title}. Again, the content is correct but alignment is not respected.

Breaking the content across lines

Finally I try breaking this across lines:

{meta_year}
{meta_title}

in which case only the year is shown; the second line is lost completely.

Including CCLI number

Lastly, any use of {meta_ccli} is replaced by the empty string, even though I have entered a CCLI number and confirmed its existence in the Show's JSON file. Indeed, {meta_ccli} seems not to work in other contexts either.
