I would like to use the provider to setup the config and optionally deploy devices.

please add support -

This can be achieved per device by setting the deploy to false, right? I'm not sure why we need another option for that.

the configuration group is deployed to devices (done at GUI), would set deploy to false remove the device?

setting deploy to false keep the configuration group associated to the device, but does not deploy changes to the devices

I just tested in v0.7.0, it would knock the device out of sync from the configuration group by setting the deploy=false, but then after I re-deploy it again at GUI, the terraform apply see no changes

how is that different from lifecycle ignore_changes? I'm trying to understand what's the expected behavior here.

ignore_changes would ignore the difference and not make any changes to the resource. I am current running in 0.7.0 with devices=null, after upgraded to 0.9.0, terraform plan now shows device association and deploy=false as change in place for all devices.
