Epic: Updated CDC Places Data

Description

The CDC Places data will be updated to provide more accurate scoring and mapping of health-related burdens. These updates will reflect the latest health data, giving users insights into key chronic health burdens affecting communities. Updates will be visible across the downloadable DAC community file, interactive map, and sidebar.

Expected Outcomes for Users

Updated Health Burden Scoring: With refreshed CDC Places metrics, users will be able to view updated indicators for Disadvantaged Communities (DACs) based on health burden factors, including:

• Asthma: Census tracts in the 90th percentile or above will be highlighted as areas with elevated asthma rates, indicating respiratory health challenges. This update will be visible in both map visuals and data views.
• Diabetes: Areas with diabetes rates in the top 10% will be flagged, identifying communities facing significant chronic disease risks. This information will be accessible in the sidebar, map, and downloadable data.
• Heart Disease: Tracts in the 90th percentile for heart disease prevalence will be marked as areas with high cardiovascular health burdens, displayed across the map, sidebar, and downloadable data.
