Comparing the outcomes of two 1D models. By default when comparing, fm2prof refers to a 1D and 2D model with associated keywords. Meanwhile, I had found these in the utils.py and modified them so that this comparison can also be done. However, it would be nice if this is properly incorporated into the code on github. In addition, it would also be nice if in the little script you use to call fm2prof then have an option to choose whether you compare 1Dvs1D or 1Dvs2D. I'll put my modified utils.py in your mailbox.

The user accomplished this by modifying utils.py:

• class ModelOutputReader: change the names of key_2D* to 1D variables
• plotting function (e.g. figure_at_station) to change labels (e.g. 2D -> 1D (old)).

We did not originally design the code to compare two 1D models, only 1D vs 2D. However, this is a clear user story and relatively minor change. We can incorporate it by:

• generalizing 1D and 2D to model-independent names (e.g. _data_2D_H to _data_model2_H
• include labelling information (e.g. _label_model2)
• update documentation: /docs/notebooks/compare1d2d.ipynb
