Pokémon Variants - Feature Summary

Project: BinderPokedex v3.0
Status: ✅ Production Ready

Overview

Generate separate PDF binders for Pokémon variants—analogous to generation-based binders. Fully data-driven architecture with multi-language support.

Implemented Variants:

  • Mega Evolution: 79 Pokémon (including X/Y forms)
  • EX Generation 1: 119 Pokémon (including Delta Species)
  • EX Generation 2: 166 Pokémon
  • EX Generation 3: 40 Pokémon

Total: 404 variant cards across 4 collections

Features

Multi-Language Support

9 languages supported: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese

Data-Driven Architecture

  • Section-based structure: Multiple sections per variant (normal, mega, rockets, etc.)
  • Prefix/suffix system: "Mega Charizard X ex", "Rocket's Meowth ex", "Dragonite ex δ"
  • No hardcoded values: All rendering from JSON data
  • Special forms: Delta Species (δ), Mega X/Y forms

  • Type-based card styling (9 Pokémon types)
  • 3×3 card layout per page
  • Cutting guides for printing
  • High-quality official artwork
  • Print-ready A4 format

Quick Start

Generate All PDFs

# Generate everything (Pokédex + Variants, all languages)
python scripts/generate_pdf.py

Generate Specific Variants

# Single variant, single language
python scripts/generate_pdf.py --type variant --variant mega_evolution --language en

# All variants, all languages
python scripts/generate_pdf.py --type variant --language all

Output Location: output/{language}/

  • Pokédex: Pokedex_{LANG}.pdf
  • Variants: Mega_Evolution_{LANG}.pdf, Pokemon_EX_Generation_1_{LANG}.pdf, etc.
