Summary

open /Library/PostgreSQL/15/uninstall-postgresql.app fails without notice. Running the script Contents/MacOS/installbuilder.sh or the program Contents/MacOS/osx-arm64 produces this error message:

Unable to initialize installer

Running this command succeeds:

sudo /Library/PostgreSQL/15/Contents/MacOS/osx-arm64

All but the data directory and the postgres account are removed. However, pgAdmin 4 thinks that PostgreSQL 15 is still installed.

Most important question to me first:

  • How do I rid my system of PostgreSQL 15? Deleting the data directory doesn't help:
sudo rm -rf /Library/PostgreSQL/15
  • Can you fix uninstall-postgresql.app so that it runs as you've instructed? This does not work:
sudo open /Library/PostgreSQL/15/uninstall-postgresql.app

Where did you see the problem?
