What happened?

I was trying to make the game open at startup, but then my antivirus freaked out even if it was selected as an exception, the wscript file, now, whenever I try to put the wscript file back into "platform", it just says access denied, I just can't.

What's the antivirus you're using? Can you add the entire Submods\MAS Autostart to exceptions?

I added the entire doki doki directory, also Bitdefender

wscript.exe isn't used maliciously in the submod, it only serves the purpose of adding/finding MAS in autostart. Could you try adding C:\Windows\wscript.exe to exceptions? Note however that unfortunately that can let actual malicious software run Windows scripts.

that's not the problem, I can't put the wscript.exe in the "platform" folder in the MAS Autostart directory, it just says i don't have access, running it works just fine tho

You don't need to put wscript.exe anywhere. It's a part of Windows installation, the submod just uses it with its own script file.

the game says that the wscript.exe has to be in the game file, but i can't put it in said game file, it says i don't have access

Can you delete the submod altogether and install it again? I'd also appreciate if I could see at the traceback you're getting.

i've tried deleting it, and reinstalling it, here's the traceback:

So, reinstalling did not help? Is the .vbs still in platform?

reinstalling it still didn't put the .vbs in the directory

it just said the same error

When you delete the submod, and put it back, and start the game, do you seen a traceback, an antivirus alert, or just an error in the log?

when i try putting it back, it doesn't put the .vbs file in it, just everything else, and no traceback from what i've seen, and the antivirus says nothing

And when you try to put it there manually?

Can you right click the MAS Autostart folder inside Submods, then Properties, then Security and send a screenshot here?

Can you try creating any file inside platform? Does it cause an error?

creating files works, but i just can't put wscript.vbs in it
folders, text documets, excel documents, etc. all work, but only the .vbs not

Does your Bitdefender have some logs or other activity records? It could be blocking creation of .vbs files.

@reppercool

actually, i've just tried starting the file from the zip folder and not the game directory, the antivirus detects the wscript.exe file as a virus, won't even let me run it

I'm honestly out of ideas with it right now. I've searched far and wide and people online seem to have an issue with wscript.exe/.vbs files and BitDefender just blocks them on sight not really getting into heuristics.

If you can, try adding both wscript.exe and .vbs files to exceptions, and possibly restart your PC to make sure the changes have been applied.

Both files were already added to exceptions, but thanks for trying to help, should I close the issue after this message?

I'll still keep looking into it as well as maybe ask you for more details (if you're okay with it) because this could be worthy of making a README section (because I'm pretty certain other AV software could possibly also be this paranoid of .vbs stuff)

Alternatively, maybe when MAS updates to more recent Python version there wouldn't be a need in this workaround for Windows and the issue will resolve itself.

No need to close it for now.

Alright, farewell for now then.
