When a Pokemon uses a move that has an animation, like Slash, you have to manually click A to progress through the battle. The intended behavior should be that the battle progresses automatically without you needing to press a button beyond confirming the move.

Try using Tackle with Squirtle. You must press A to progress through the move animation / text.
