symlink stored in ZIP

I put my JSON file in a Git repository and then created a symlink from ~/.config/Mural/data/some-project.json -> ~/repositories/my-project/mural/some-project.json

When I download the ZIP, I find that it has stored the symlink and not the content of the file.
