Theme Switching Changing Cursor

Whenever I change the theme, the cursor seems to change to this default white cursor. I remember this wasn't the case before, yet ever since I reinstalled HyDE this has been happening

I've added these lines in my ~/.config/hyde/config.toml :

[hyprland]
cursor_theme = "Adwaita"
cursor_size = 32

it works when I log back onto hyprland yet changes to that white cursor when I switch the theme. Is there a way to prevent this?

i have the same issue when i hyde-shell -r it always back to default settings

I have also found that adding this line in my ~/.config/hypr/userprefs.conf:
exec = hyprctl setcursor $CURSOR_THEME $CURSOR_SIZE
fixes the issue but cursor switches to the white cursor when interacting with the waybar icons.
edit: I've noticed that the cursor changes only when interacting with GTK guis like libreoffice / waybar.
