Create/copy a layout

For example, you want to modify the HyDE (a copy of it) layout. Edit that file and find the block with background then modify the path with your desired wallpaper path

Should look like this

I suggest copying a layout as if there are issues you can just revert to a working one

Set the Layout

Run hyde-shell hyprlock --select to choose your modified layout

*** Don't be shock if it renders the lockscreen when selecting a layout. It is used to preview a layout

A fancier way

1.

First you should set a convention file path for you hyprlock background. Example is $HOME/.cache/hyde/wallpapers/hyprlock.png. REMEMBER that file path.

Run this to select a wallpaper and put that in your chosen file path

hyde-shell wallpaper --output $HOME/.cache/hyde/wallpapers/hyprlock.png --select --backend hyprlock

What this means is select a wallpaper and output/copy it to $HOME/.cache/hyde/wallpapers/hyprlock.png

Now put $HOME/.cache/hyde/wallpapers/hyprlock.png in you path as instructed in here #1480

*PS there is a bug where when you --select it the wallpaper in you desktop. The workaround is adding --backend hyprlock.

In the future, the actual command should look like this.

hyde-shell wallpaper  --output ~/.cache/hyde/wallpapers/hyprlock.png  --select

In Linux we call it Display Manager or DM. And in HyDE we are using SDDM

**Lockscreen - this is your lock screen after the login screen.
**Display Manager - This is the Log In screen. This is where you the User logs in. This is Systemwide and the system is not aware of the user files. Take note.

Modify the SDDM theme

Now with that in mind. SDDM themes can be configured in /usr/share/sddm/themes/ and choose a directory that is your active theme. In your case it is Corners

Edit

• Change that file that is pointing to non-user files. Example /var/tmp/hyde_wallpaper.png (if you use files inside ~//$HOME it will not work).
• Also note that I use /var/tmp/** so that I do not require sudo when modifying the background, yet still accessible for the system.

Dynamically change the theme

Follow this #1480 (reply in thread) . And use /var/tmp/hyde_wallpaper.png as the output file this way you got a fancy menu to change your SDDM Background.
