set retirement date by timepicker?

This seems like a dumb question, but is it possible to set the retirement date of a VM deployed via a service dialog with a timepicker in the dialog? I have a timepicker element named retires_on, as that seems like the appropriate value from looking at other dialogs, but it doesn't seem to apply the time/date I picked to the retirement date when deploying a VM.

Am I doing something wrong?
