Hey, congrats for this library.
I notice that most of your data comes from geonames.org, right?
If so, it has a very permissive license (it's not copyleft), but you still need add an "Attribution" section (probably in the readme file). There, you can identify of the creator, add a link to their website, add a copyright notice, say if you modified the material etc. You can find more details here (search for "attribution"): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode

And try not to use data from Wikipedia, because it has another type of license (it's a special type of creative commons), that is copyleft. It would require to change your library to the same license or to GPL.
So, try to avoid using Wikipedia data, otherwise your library can't be MIT anymore.

@lortiz-daitan some of the Geonames data was a starting point yes :) thanks for pointing this out

btw, stuff like state ISO codes is probably public domain, it can't be copyrighted by Wikipedia or anybody else?
