DashClip Delivery - Commercial Licensing Terms

Copyright (c) 2025 [Ilya Beliaev]

Dual Licensing Model

DashClip Delivery is available under two licensing options:

  1. GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0) - Free for qualifying use cases
  2. Commercial License - For proprietary and commercial use

When do you need a Commercial License?

You need a Commercial License if you want to:

  • ❌ Use DashClip Delivery in a commercial SaaS offering
  • ❌ Integrate it into a closed-source commercial product
  • ❌ Offer it as part of a paid service without open-sourcing your modifications
  • ❌ Modify the software without publishing your changes under AGPL-3.0
  • ❌ Remove or modify the attribution and license notices

When is AGPL-3.0 sufficient?

You can use the free AGPL-3.0 license if you:

  • ✅ Run DashClip Delivery for personal, non-commercial purposes
  • ✅ Use it for educational or research purposes
  • ✅ Integrate it into another AGPL-3.0 licensed project
  • ✅ Are willing to publish all modifications under AGPL-3.0
  • ✅ Provide access to the complete source code to all users of your service

Commercial License Benefits

A Commercial License includes:

No copyleft obligations - Keep your modifications private
Proprietary use allowed - Integrate into closed-source products
Priority support - Direct technical assistance
Legal protection - Warranty and indemnification options
Custom modifications - Paid development services available
White-labeling - Use under your own brand

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm running a commercial dashcam channel. Do I need a commercial license?

A: If you keep all your modifications open source (AGPL-3.0) and provide access to your source code to all users of your service, you can use the free AGPL-3.0 license. If you want to keep modifications private, you need a commercial license.

Q: Can I evaluate the software before purchasing?

A: Yes! You can freely evaluate DashClip Delivery under the AGPL-3.0 license. Commercial licensing is only required for production deployment of proprietary modifications.

Q: What about contributions?

A: Community contributions remain under AGPL-3.0 and are welcomed. By contributing, you agree that your contribution can be included in both the open source and commercial versions (see CONTRIBUTING.md for details).

Q: Can I get a trial commercial license?

A: Contact us to discuss trial periods and pilot deployments.

Legal Notice

This commercial license offer does not modify the terms of the AGPL-3.0 license. Users who comply with AGPL-3.0 terms do not need a commercial license.

This is a dual-licensing model: you choose which license applies to your use case.
