We could use an EnergyPlus ideal air system, though doing so would mean that you can't get floating temperatures in the conditioned space. So this would probably have to be optional.

Thinking about it some more.... if you have an HPXML with just a heating system and you were to add an ideal air system for cooling, that would affect how much heating you do (since the conditioned space will now be maintaining the cooling setpoint). So there are definitely some tradeoffs here...
We are using an E+ ideal air system along w/ the DOE Commercial Reference Prototype models from openstudio-standards to report loads. You may be able to get floating temps by specifying an availability schedule for the ideal air system that isn't 24/7.
