This looks good. I tested it using the 3D example in #2054 (comment) which produced the correct result with no segmentation fault. |

Fixes #2055.
I ran @mawc2019's test case (here) and @oskooi 's test case (here) and they both seem to pass now.
The issue was a copy/paste bug within a nested for-loop.
