My RSS reader, Nextcloud News, times out after 60001 milliseconds waiting fortps://osmcha.org/api/v1/aoi/297f4923-cc10-416e-8538-841e3e64dae7/changesets/feed/

Trying to open the feed on my chrome browser also times out occasionally.

Another user on the OSM US Slack reported a similar issue with this changeset feed:

I believe that this is a performance problem with how RSS feeds are generated, which causes complex filters to time out (similar to how complex filters often fail to load in the UI).

Something we could change that might fix this would be to automatically append a start_date parameter to RSS feed queries, so that we only fetch the changes in a recent interval (say 48 hours). We'd be relying on the RSS reader to fetch the feed periodically and update its local cache if the user wanted to see feed items that were older than that. This is how RSS feeds on most websites work - they only contain the recent history, not the entire feed going back to the beginning of time.

#704 may also be relevant to this problem, but I haven't checked (it depends on whether RSS feeds use the same SQL query as the UI does to fetch results).

I think that would work for me. If I'm gone for a while and don't check, I'm not sure I'd want to look at a week or more of changesets.

I use Nextcloud RSS news reader. The system error log is filled full of warnings from the few osmcha feeds I have. It looks like it checks hourly for new items. So for me, a 24 hour period might even work.
