LAN9252 Bugs #196

Dear Ethercat Wizards,
This afternoon I ran across an issue with the LAN9252 chip described here:

It seems the chip randomly sets trailing bytes to zero. I checked the microchip page for the chip and did not find an errata page, which is somewhat concerning.
I am planning on building a custom EtherCAT SubDevice around the LAN9252 chip, but this bug report gives me pause. Has anyone experienced this bug before? Are there other common bugs with this chip?
