PeARS code hosting currently fails GNU Ethical Repository Criteria Evaluations #5

Please could PeARS migrate its entire code-base and bug tracker to a code hosting and bug-tracking service that does not fail the GNU Ethical Repository Criteria Evaluations?

GitLab is probably a reasonable compromise:

  • it passes (albeit imperfectly) the GNU Ethical Repository Criteria;
  • it supports Git as a first-class DVCS;
  • its interface is quite similar to GitHub's;
  • it has a large and active user base; and
  • like GitHub, it provides web hosting for static sites (plus, it has the advantage over GitHub that it supports HTTPS for custom domains).

Other possible hosts, albeit lacking some of those features, so probably not currently a great fit for PeARS:

Thanks!

Thanks for initiating this discussion. :)
And gitlab is a good option.
I haven't tried NotABug yet so I don't know about it.
GNU Savannah is not userfriendly and creating repos there needs a lot of ticket raising kind of procedures.

But In short, I'm positive towards this.
@minimalparts we should discuss this in our next meeting.
