App does not close properly on Windows leaving zombie process

An app installed and run on Windows does not close properly leaving zombie process. Running the app again creates a new process. Multiple zombie processes can be stacked that way. The issue was not observed on Linux. Mac is untested.

Used Julia 1.11.7 and AppBundler 0.5.1., MWE: examples/qmlapp

This issue appears to come from the subsystem manipulation of julia.exe, a hack to prevent a console window from appearing. I haven't seen it present with the Jumbo Julia distribution.

A proper solution would require compiling a special launcher, which is not on my radar, given the maintenance burden it would place on the project. Perhaps JuliaC integration will resolve this issue as it compiles it's own launcher. Alternatively, if you don't mind the console appearing, you can pass the windowed=false argument to the build_app function.

Agree. JuliaC should be priority and then we can revisit this.

As possibly connect side note (pushing testing to limits - hope you don't mind it), pressing button in QML GUI (Windows) that runs complicated GPU command that takes 2 minutes to compile (but quick to execute once compiled), console started appearing (flashing). It stopped flashing once the function compiled and did not flash if run already compiled. Presumably, that could also be due to "subsystem manipulation of julia.exe". Hopefully we solve this too with JuliaC.

The flashing probably comes from lld.exe. I used to change the subsystem for that as well, but I decided not to because it made it easier to tell whether the compilation cache was being reused.
