I guess this is more of a meta issue, but the automated end-to-end testing on travis-ci has been broken for master for more than a year. As a prospective contributor to the project, not being able to use the "is the build green" test to verify that your changes are reasonable, is kind of a turnoff, so I think that it makes sense to get this fixed.
I have created a set of pull requests, that when combined with a fix to #87 results in a green build.
