I'm on Zorin OS. I have Steam installed as a package. Game is installed on my external hard drive and has been started and played. How do I change the .sh file to point it to the correct pfx directory? All I get is "No prefixes found. Run the game once and then try again."

I fingered it out.
The .sh script isn't working on the latest update and install method by Steam. And with an external install location.
I bypassed the script and installed it manually:

1). Navigate to the games installation on the external drive. The path should be: /media/User/Drive/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/ - This is if you set the mount point there in the Disks app.
For instance; /media/brian/4T SSD M.2/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/

Create a new folder named anadius.

Open that new folder and create a folder inside it named EA DLC Unlocker v2.

From your downloaded unlocker folder, copy the files config.ini and g_The Sims 4.ini.

Paste them into that newly created EA DLC Unlocker v2 folder.

2). Copy the version.dll file from the EA DLC Unlocker file in the "EA Desktop" or "ea_app" folder.
Navigate to the steam games pfx folder which in my case was /media/User/Drive/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/drive_c/Program Files/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/13.690.2.6204-1777552144/EA Desktop
Paste the dll in that folder.

3). Tell Steam's Proton to Use the Unlocker. (Assuming you have already set the game to launch with compatibility of "Proton Experimental")
Go to your Steam Library and right-click The Sims 4.
Select Properties.
Look for the Launch Options box at the bottom of the General tab.
Paste this exact command into the box:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%

Now run the game through steam. When the EA app launches the game, your welcome page should recognize all the dlc packs you placed in the games directory and present you with; Welcome to "this pack" splashscreens.
