I got a desktop notification today and I was thinking. Can we do that on the Tech@NYU website as well?
This is something that would try do the same thing the calendar feed does. It would ask for desktop notification access when you go to the Tech@NYU website. Then we would push directly to their desktop.
I'm a little worried that it could annoy people, unless we make it super clear what notifications they're opting into (but, at that point, maybe we should just point them to the calendar feeds?). Still, I think there's definitely some way we can use this tech. Another possibility (though perhaps low-priority) would be to do it on the intranet, to keep people on track with their event planning.
