W icon on KDE Wayland when running in portable mode

Description

1. Download the latest portable .zip and unpack
2. Create a KDE shortcut to launch Trillium from the path you unpacked it to
3. Add the icon (icon.png). It should look like this:

4. Save, then launch Trilium

Notice how Trilium initially launches with the correct icon, then seems to spawn another instance of itself, which gets the KDE default "W" icon for when a Wayland icon hasn't been provided.

This happens even when specifying the trilium binary directly in the KDE shortcut:

Unlike X11, on Wayland, applications cannot set their own icon. So it's not a bug of Trilium.
To fix this, modify your custom .desktop file to have:

StartupWMClass=Trilium Notes

Thank you for the workaround. I still see the W icon even after running kbuildsycoca5.

Out of curiosity, why does the W icon only show when Trilium is run with TRILIUM_DATA_DIR? set, and not when it's run without it?

Turns out that the correct class was trilium. So aftre modifying the .desktop file as below and running kbuildsycoca6, I see the correct icon in the taskbar even when running with the env var set:

I fixed the last 2 icon issues by renaming the desktop file from Trilium Notes.dekstop to trilium.desktop.

Now all 3 icons show the Trilium icon 🎉
