• OS: MagicOS 9.0 / Android 15
• RAM: 12GB + 7.0 GB HONOR RAM Turbo
• App version: v0.8.8 is working but v0.8.9-beta1, v0.8.9-beta2, v0.8.9-beta3, v0.8.9-beta4, v0.8.9-beta5 versions crashs.

Issue Description
The application crashes immediately upon launch and closes by itself (instant crash on boot).

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the ChatterUI application
2. The splash screen (or loading screen) may appear very briefly or not at all
3. App crashes and closes automatically within 1-2 seconds

Expected Behavior
The app should load normally and show the main interface/chat screen.

Actual Behavior
Instant crash & force close right after opening.

Additional Information

• This happens every time I try to launch the app.
• No model is loaded yet (happens before model selection).
• The recent update mentions hexagon kernels for llama.cpp and possible inconsistent device compatibility on Snapdragon devices.
• I suspect this might be related to the new Hexagon NPU kernels not being compatible/stable on Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition.
• Device is not rooted. No custom ROM.

No, I just installed v0.8.9-beta and the same bug persists.

To be completely sure, I uninstalled ChatterUI (v0.8.8) and reinstalled v0.8.9-beta6b from scratch, but the same problem persists.

In the Layla app, I can use it with the NPU engine by choosing HTP0' on my phone. It's much more vas than CPU, but it's working. I added the Layla log file with the details. I hope it helps.

It's still the same bug. This problem started in https://github.com/Vali-98/ChatterUI/releases/tag/v0.8.9-beta1. v0.8.8 runs, but unfortunately the llama.cpp version does not support any model that comes out after September 29 2025, so it can only be used with old models. No application switches to llama.rn no longer works on my device. The pocketpal-ai app is now working. pocketpal-ai wasn't an app I used, but ChatterUI was a one that I loved. It's a pity this problem has been going on for months. If the application was opened and the model was closed during the installation, I could have said a problem with npu, but the application never opens, the AIBot list appears for a moment and the application is closed.

This is likely not an issue with llama.rn, as it does not load the Hexagon kernels on Snapdragon 7. Does this also fail with a fresh install?

If so this is a new problem entirely than stated in #498 and #509

Every time I upgraded from version 0.8.8 to beta the app crashed. Then I completely uninstalled ChatterUI and reinstalled the latest version. The result was the same. The application suddenly crashes completely, sometimes even within a second.

I downloaded and tested all versions of ChatterUI_v0.8.9-beta1 onwards. All versions crashed before the application could even open. However, ChatterUI_v0.8.9-beta7 opened on the second attempt. I imported a model from an external source, but it failed to load. Closing and reopening the application again resulted in it crashing again. I have no idea what's causing this model loading problem. However, the application not opening issue might be related to SAF (Specific Ability to Open). ChatterUI_v0.8.9-beta8 doesn't open at all, while beta7 at least opened once. Maybe this helps.

I have not been able to reproduce this issue on any fresh installs on devices I have. If you have access to adb to check the crash logs, that would be immensely helpful.

My computer's broken. I can't collect logs with the Adb in the short term. There may be a way on the phone, but I don't have enough information to collect logs. (I can't root on my phone. I tried to collect logs using an app via shizuki but I failed) I probably won't be able to use ChatterUI anymore. I'm afraid Llama.rn threw away the old devices. That's why I'm trying to develop the llama.android in Llama.cpp by coding to Claude.

I found a way to collect logs. These are the logs I could find within the application related to com.vali98.ChatterUI. I used version ChatterUI_v0.8.9-beta9b. The crash continues.
