I use your script to get the guest agent on reboot, but thought you may be interested in my fluke start.
After installing pkg install qemu-guest-agent
I did service qemu-guest-agent start and was told it's not enabled.
So I did service qemu-guest-agent enable then service qemu-guest-agent start
And it was up and running.
But did not survive a reboot. That's how I came across your solution.
Is there a way to just run the start command or enable, start on bootup, as this may be a future proof solution, than editing files?
Thanks for your script, btw.

I do use the 'Shellcmd' package, which is for executing commands at boot, to start the QEMU guest agent. To add the command go to Services / Shellcmds and add the commands as you type it in the shell.

To run the guest agent on startup:
sysrc qemu_guest_agent_enable="YES"
Start the service with:
service qemu-guest-agent start
Is this information inaccurate or was the package updated with a good startup script? I only did what the package told me to do and I can see the IP address of this vm on the proxmox gui now.
