Description

After the current version of the platform is released to the user community, it might be of value to this community to add a feature that provides real-time retrieval / analysis of web / social media mentions specific to a group / event, as well as a more general activism-related 'newsfeed' feature to all users of the platform.

This would be useful as a source of general, relevant, real-time reporting on items/issues of interest to the general activist community, as well as provide useful real-time (or near real-time) intelligence regarding a specific group or event. For example, a feed of social media sentiment regarding a controversial event could potentially assist event managers in altering their operational plans for that event in response to publically-expressed sentiment regarding that event.

There are a number of ways to implement this sort of monitoring. One suggested platform is part of the Exa service, specifically their Monitors service. Other sources of monitoring are available as well, but Exa Monitors provides an unified API surface that provides topic/sentiment with a small implementation footprint.

If it is determined that this sort of functionality is of benefit to the activist community, further investigation of available implementation options is recommended.
