Carbon-nanotube-by-tersoff-potential

Carbon nanotubes is allotrope of carbon with a cylindrical nanostructure. Here its molecular dynamics is studied by simulation by construction tersoff potential from scratch. The Tersoff potential is a three-body potential function which icludes an angular contribution of the force.

About Tersoff Potential

It is a molecular dynamics technique that solves numerically a multi-body problem of mechanics. Here, it is applied to the description of velocities and positions of carbon atoms disrupted in the nanotube structure, as a function of time. From the initial position and velocity of the atoms, and the forces of interaction between them, the microscopic behavior of the system is computed by solving differential equations of motion. The applied potential technique here is deterministic (in the limits of the computer capabilities) since no stochastic factors are involved

Getting Started

The file main.cpp will do a molecular dynamics simulation of Carbon Nanotube.
