Repository navigation
feat: interactive terminal workspace for local reviews(TUI) #1737
Description
Problem Statement
Local review involves choosing a scope, previewing files, starting a run, following logs, reading findings, and reopening saved sessions. Today these steps require separate CLI commands. An interactive terminal workspace would let users complete this workflow without repeatedly reconstructing command arguments.
Proposed Solution
Add an opt-in ocr tui command using the project's Go terminal stack:
- A command palette and persistent input area for scope, review background, provider, and model selection.
- File preview, live progress/logs, cancellation, findings, and saved-session navigation.
/settingswith English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian interface text.- A dark green visual theme and an Open Code Review pixel wordmark.
/loginreusing the existing ChatGPT browser sign-in command, followed by/providerfor provider/model configuration.
Reviews run through the existing OCR CLI in a child process. Cancellation waits for the child to save its available results. The ordinary command-line review flow remains available for scripts.
ocr tui --repo /path/to/repository
ocr tui --from main --to featureAlternatives Considered
Shell aliases simplify repeated commands but do not provide an interactive view of progress, findings, and session history. The web viewer is useful for reading results; a terminal workspace keeps local review controls alongside the terminal workflow.
Affected Area
CLI / Commands; Output / Formatting; Configuration; Documentation.
Additional Context
Following the maintainer's suggested split, this TUI is proposed separately from native plugins and the marketplace. The upstream TUI patch will build independently of the plugin backend. Plugin-management screens from the integrated fork can be connected after both contributions land.
Draft implementation: #1739. Its standalone revision passes make check, affected race tests, and make coverage (90.3%); a real Windows terminal smoke verified startup, language switching, preview, the login command palette entry, and exit. Actual ChatGPT account authorization is user-driven. Plugins and the marketplace are tracked in #1736 and Draft PR #1738.
Prototype Screenshots
These screenshots show the integrated fork. The standalone TUI patch retains the workspace and language settings; the plugin shortcut shown on the prototype home screen belongs to the separate plugin integration.
AI Assistance
OpenAI Codex was used for implementation, tests, and drafting, with GPT-6 and delegated GPT-6.1 Sol agents at xhigh. Code review used OCR Delegate for deterministic file/rule selection and Codex for the review itself. The PR is being submitted as a draft; contributor self-review and CLA confirmation remain checklist items before marking it ready.
