i'm getting a confusing message

Token '04' doesn't match specifier '%m'

04 seems perfectly fine for %m. Doesn't it?

here's a sample log line:

1.2.3.4 - - [2026-04-13T21:22:42+00:00] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 502 559 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; ...." "-" 1 .0.001 - 0.002

the config have:

time-format %H:%M:%S+%z
date-format %Y-%m-%d
datetime-format %Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S+%z
log-format %h - - [%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S+%z] "%r" %s %b "%R" "%u"

(ignoring the last 3 fields as they are performance numbers)

found #635 and that pattern (ignoring timezone, etc) fixed the issue. but still curious why I got this failure :)

The timezone format you're using isn't natively supported by strptime (it includes an offset with a colon), so I'd suggest using:

goaccess  log --log-format='%h %^[%x+%^] "%r" %s %b "%R" "%u" "%^" %^ %^ %^ %T' --datetime-format='%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S' --date-spec=min
