how do you configure ipv6 for a private gateway?

I'm still new to cloudstack, but I have a need to connect a pre-existing network zone to a cloudstack VPC so I need to do that with a private gateway. How do I specify the IPv6 address to use as a gateway and netmask?

but what I mean @bradh352 , in the case of IPv6 I would not want NATTED but routed in all cases, would I? So never would an extra interface be needed, just the proper routing?

right, routed ipv6 and natted ipv4. preferably the public side of the VPC would use BGP for both ipv4 and ipv6 ... just ipv6 would advertise a set of /64s and ipv4 would advertise a set of /32s

@bradh352 (@bhouse-nexthop ) these seem sensible functionalities. There are also voices that opt for a full IPv6 (IPv4 free) installation. It will require quite some work.
I think “making the VR listen to BGP dirtectives” would be a good feature.

it is already supported, try Routed VPC

The only missing is, when use routed ipv6 and natted ipv4, we can support BGP for ipv6 only (dnsmasq will be used for ipv4 in VPC VR)

It sounds like you are describing a network, with uses "ROUTED" mode for IPv6 and "NATTED" mode for IPv4, which, according to the documentation, should not be supported - it's either "ROUTED" or "NATTED" for both, IPv4 and IPv6.

But probably i just misunderstand your description or i am missing the obvious?

IPv6 supports only ROUTED mode. Please refer to https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/plugins/ipv6.html#isolated-network-and-vpc-network-tier

The options are

• NATTED: NATTED IPv4 only.
• NATTED Dual-Stack: NATTED IPv4 and ROUTED IPv6 (only supports static routing, which was introduced in network: ipv6 static routes #5786 )
• ROUTED: both IPv4 and IPv6 (optional) are ROUTED (support both static and dynamic routing, introduced in New feature: Dynamic and Static Routing #9470)

The missing is

• NATTED Dual-Stack: NATTED IPv4 and ROUTED IPv6 (Dynamic Routing)
