It's currently impossible to place a monitor at @1920,-100, as wdisplays enforces a minimum of zero.

That limit should be removed. Wayland has no problem whatsoever placing a screen at a negative offset.

This is important because it will now become commonplace due to wine wayland reporting to games the resolution of your monitor located at 0,0. Any monitor to the left or above your centre "main" monitor will need to then be in negative space.

The way Wine is reporting resolution seems a bit wrong. Could allowing negative coordinates break something more?

From what i hear, the limited reporting of monitors to games is a limitation of wayland (it only reports the monitor closest to 0,0 and without any metadata). Other than that i believe wayland has no issues with configuring monitors in the negative space.

I can confirm that it doesn't have any issues, and I've worked using such a setup for years now.

There are issues with rootless XWayland, but that can't be helped without major X11 surgery – which nobody is going to perform any time soon.
