This document provides a breakdown of the hardware resources in my homelab, along with their one-time costs and equivalent monthly costs if provisioned through major cloud providers.
The goal is to document the scale and value of the environment, highlight the trade-offs between on-prem and cloud resources, and provide a reference for others who are considering similar setups.
- Cloud pricing is modeled as infrastructure-equivalent estimates, not direct one-to-one managed-service replacements.
- Compute sizing uses nearest practical EC2 instance classes for vCPU and memory parity.
- Storage modeling uses mixed EBS/EFS/S3 classes to approximate workload patterns (OS, VM storage, and bulk media/archive).
- Network transfer, support plans, and labor costs are not included in monthly totals.
