Omarchy + WeWorkWiFi -> no way to connect to network, confusing WiFi UI

Just did a fresh install while at WeWork and immediately realized I can't connect to WeWorkWiFi.

1. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the tray
2. At first, no networks show up (?)... re-open a couple of times. Eventually, the scan is completed, and I see WeWorkWiFi
3. Navigating to the network and clicking enter doesn't result in any response. I can't connect to WiFi and have to use my phone

-> WiFi picker/ui is "not friendly". I do not get any feedback on why I can't connect to the network
(minor: no way to open settings/network settings/ using keyboard?)

I assume it is, at least partially, an Arch issue, but it feels like a "p0" to me personally, because not being able to connect to wifi right after installation is completed is a good reminder of why I moved from Linux to macOS in the first place.

Some context:
WeWork has a weird wifi setup that is known to cause issues even on Android Devices (but on Android the UI at least allows manually entering required settings)

If someone has already solved it, I would appreciate any guidance. I tried to use iwctl but couldn't figure it out either (I am getting Not Configured after running station wlan0 connect WeWorkWiFi)

Hi there, not entirely sure if you are encountering a more advanced issue, but, I was also struggling to figure out how to use the wifi TUI, until I saw it was just using https://github.com/pythops/impala

It sounds like you figured out that you could tab through to the network you wanted to connect to, such as the following:

Where I was getting tripped up, was that instead of allowing click events or even enter, Impala requires you to use Space to Connect/Disconnect the network. Then you can enter the password.

Hope that solves your issue.

As a side note, you can find all the shortcuts using ? in the TUI. But the only other shortcut I found useful so far is s which scans for networks.

I just installed Omarchy over the weekend everything has been great came into the WeWork office and yes as they use 802.1X its a problem connecting via the default wifi offered GUI. I did notice as well I was unable to see the "New Netowrks" without going "Super + v" to make it full screen as it cropped it off but even then the lack of 802.1X support means im using the Guest Wifi right now to try to find an answer. There is already another Idea in this repo to get this add that was created after this thread: Idea

Also thanks @johnapishift the " ? " really helped me out but the "Super + V" is also something people might miss. I only reasised this as i changed the monitor " env = GDK_SCALE,1 "

I connected to WeWorkWifi by manually configuring the network via these steps:

1. Create a new config for WeWorkWifi (assuming this is this SSID, the name of the file should be the same): sudo nvim /var/lib/iwd/WeWorkWiFi.8021x
2. The content is the following:

[Security]
EAP-Method=PEAP
EAP-Identity=your_wework_username
EAP-PEAP-Phase2-Method=MSCHAPV2
EAP-PEAP-Phase2-Identity=your_wework_username
EAP-PEAP-Phase2-Password=your_wework_password

Use the username and password from the wework app, likely your email as username and the password that the app shows.

3. Change permissions so that only root can read it: sudo chmod 600 /var/lib/iwd/WeWorkWiFi.8021x
4. Restart iwd: sudo systemctl restart iwd

After this, weworkwifi should automatically be connected.

Im also new to omarchy I've got basically the exact same 8021x file that you do but for some reason mine keeps saying not configured when I try to connect. When I check the log there are 4 lines saying Property EAP-Method missing. Anyone know a fix?

I am having a similar issue as @bigburlyman496 Where it just says "Not Configured" however I do not see Property EAP-Method missing.

journalctl -u iwd -b does contain

iwd[9411]: station: Network configuration is disabled.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks so much @nishantdania! As soon as I saved the file, I noticed the network was already connected. I didn't even have a chance to restart iwd. One thing to note in case other people are reading... in my case I had to unplug my ethernet cable as it routing the traffic there by default.

I had a similar problem, but just trying to connect to my home guest network.

The UI is definitely confusing. I didn't think to try tab -- instead, I was trying the arrow keys, JK, alt+click, etc.

When I opened Wi-Fi, after juggling with lots of keys, I found Tab to move up and down. After that, move to Wi-Fi networks, use ↑ / ↓ to select your device, then hit Space and enter your password.

Thanks to this thread I can control the UI but it’s not connecting to my hotspot even though the password was correct and now my hotspot network is not appearing in the new networks section.

You have to refresh the hotspot if you get the password wrong. It is a little finiky.
