When installing cachegoose with npm the following error pops up:

Cmd:
npm i cachegoose

Error Log:

npm ERR! code ERESOLVE
npm ERR! ERESOLVE unable to resolve dependency tree
npm ERR!
npm ERR! While resolving: <project_name>@1.0.0
npm ERR! Found: [email protected]
npm ERR! node_modules/mongoose
npm ERR!   mongoose@"^6.3.3" from the root project
npm ERR!
npm ERR! Could not resolve dependency:
npm ERR! peer mongoose@"^5.0.1" from [email protected]
npm ERR! node_modules/cachegoose
npm ERR!   cachegoose@"*" from the root project
npm ERR!
npm ERR! Fix the upstream dependency conflict, or retry
npm ERR! this command with --force, or --legacy-peer-deps
npm ERR! to accept an incorrect (and potentially broken) dependency resolution.

I am using mongoose 6.3.3, mongodb 4.5.0 and nodejs v16.7.0

Should I downgrade mongoose?
