Problems with rsync.net: "connection closed by remote" (SSH configuration)

Hey,

I'd love to know if you have similar connection problems when running borg backups on a rsync.net server. Sometimes my borg backup gets interrupted with "connection closed by remote" (borg issue 636).

I've seen that the borg documentation recommends this server-side SSH configuration:

ClientAliveInterval 10
ClientAliveCountMax 30

Unfortunately, the rsync.net support told me they don't allow a per account configuration and their default values are:

ClientAliveInterval 0
ClientAliveCountMax 3

Maybe someone has found a solution to this problem...
And even if you don't have a solution, would love to hear if someone has experienced the same issue with rsync.net.

I recently had that error message in a LAN (!) - it was due to bad cables and lots of RX and Frame errors on the ethernet layer.

I could improve it by this on the "borg serve" (sshd) side:

TCPKeepAlive yes
ClientAliveInterval 20
ClientAliveCountMax 6

Later, of course also the cables were fixed.
