Bridge setup instructions didn't work in Ubuntu 16.04

The bridge setup instructions as listed didn't work even after changing the adapter names to the new Predictable Network Interface Names, but using the Network Manager approach did. I found useful help at http://ask.xmodulo.com/configure-linux-bridge-network-manager-ubuntu.html.
