Reconsider nested sidebar hierarchy now Craft 5+ is solely Entry-based

Now Craft has migrated to a stage where everything is within Entries, it means the first sidebar is almost redundant making the CMS have a lot of wasted space where the logic would seem that the second sidebar could be at the top level.

If I didn't have the Navigation plugin, my site content team would only have two options in the first sidebar being Entries and Assets.

In the meantime, will Tags and Categories continue to be a part of the platform? I'm going to try using those instead just to make the sidebar more populated, but I won't if Tags and Categories will be removed in the next year or so. @brandonkelly

I'm not Brandon, but my understanding is that Categories and Tags are indeed going away in v6, but their functionality and UI will be brought to entries. So, I presume, we're gonna have for example an entries field that looks like a tag field, and there will be a way to separate, UI wise, the entries that act as tags or categories. It's not clear yet how that last part will play out, but there have been a few discussions and it's something that's definitely on P&T's roadmap.

IMO you should keep using Categories and Tags if that benefits your users' experience right now, and when the time comes it should be pretty simple to switch, perhaps keeping that same UI or something close to it.

That's already planned for years now so it will come.
We'll be able to create custom navbar items with the sources (sections) we like in order to "move" the sidebar kinda to the navbar.
So instead of "content" in your sidebar, you can have a menu title "content" with the 2 sections "Articles" and "Pages".
This was said during a dotAll if I remember correctly.
