Game hangs in noisy room #26

I don't think this is intentional behavior (?). Whenever I enter a certain "noisy" room, the game stops responding correctly to my commands, and instead echos my input, converted to all caps. I have to ctrl+c to quit, and I lose my progress.

A clue to the problem is that when I enter that room, the game describes the room but doesn't print a prompt > at all.

You are in a large room with a ceiling which cannot be detected from
the ground.  There is a narrow passage from east to west and a stone
stairway leading upward.  The room is extremely noisy.  In fact, it
is difficult to hear yourself think.

Running on a 2023 MacBook Air with M2 chip, OS is Sonoma

I installed Zork via homebrew (the homebrew package, as I understand it, is sourced from this repository)
