Cannot use custom trim material on modded armor.

Describe the bug
When attempting to trim modded armor (specifically Create Mod's cardboard armor) with a custom material it just uses the missing texture.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Install alongside Create Mod with any custom material.
2. Attempt to apply the material to the cardbord armor from Create Mod
3. See error

Expected behavior
Custom trim materials showing up using the proper color palette on the modded armor.
