[GSoC2026] Project #9: ROSbag Reader Node for Dora

Hi there,

I'm a sophomore majoring in Electronic Information Engineering at Jinan University (JNU) in China. I'm a beginner in the open-source community and found the DORA project through GSoC.

I'm particularly interested in Project #9: ROSbag Reader Node. I have a certain foundation in Python, specifically in data scraping and automation, though I am relatively new to the robotics field.

I would appreciate any advice on how to get started with this project as a newcomer.

Additionally, I’ve tried to join the Discord server but seem to have trouble accessing the specific channels. Is there a preferred way to contact the mentors of this project for further discussion?

If you are interested in this project, you can learn about the rosbags tool, which is a tool for converting rosbag files from ROS1 to ROS2. The code for loading rosbag can be used as a reference.

I have successfully used rosbags to convert from ROS1 to ROS2 and read the messages in Python. This is my preliminary attempt on this project. You can find it here:

Also, I would like to ask if there is a template for the proposal, as I am preparing to start writing mine.
