First of all, thank you for creating and maintaining Project Manager. It is an excellent Obsidian plugin and provides a solid, local-first foundation for managing projects and tasks directly through Markdown files and YAML metadata.
Based on Project Manager, I have developed an open-source companion plugin called Project Manager Insights:

Project Manager Insights is designed as a read-only analytics and insight layer for Project Manager. Its core principle is that it does not modify Project Manager’s project notes, task notes, or existing data model.
Instead, it reads the metadata and relationships already maintained by Project Manager—including project and task properties, hierarchy, tags, statuses, assignees, estimates, time logs, and dates—and turns them into additional perspectives such as:
- Cross-project workload analysis
- Team and individual delivery insights
- Delivery-stage and acceptance progress
- Data-quality checks
- Schedule and delivery-risk analysis
- Traceability back to the original Project Manager tasks
My intention is not to replace or duplicate any part of Project Manager, but to complement it while keeping Project Manager as the source of truth for project planning and task execution.
I would be very happy to contribute to the Project Manager ecosystem and collaborate with you on areas such as:
- Maintaining compatibility as Project Manager’s metadata model evolves
- Improving integration and companion-plugin documentation
- Reporting issues and submitting upstream pull requests where appropriate
- Discussing stable integration boundaries between the two plugins
- Exploring whether Project Manager Insights could be introduced as a compatible companion plugin
I would greatly appreciate your feedback and recognition of this approach.
