Internal CA cert support for all commands

... works just fine ...
safe get path/to/any/secret
!! Transport Error: Get https://private-cert-vault.myorg:443/v1/sys/internal/ui/mounts: x509: certificate signed by unknown authority

Given the option to specify a ca-cert with the target suggests that I would be able to avoid adding a -k to every command but this is not the case.
Am I misunderstanding the intent behind --ca-cert or is this a legitimate bug?

I believe that is the intended use case; targeting with a CA certificate should cause safe to remember the CA certificate for subsequent interactions with that target.

What is the output of safe -v?
