When did this happen?
On 31 Mar 2026, the US EIA dataset changed US-NW-WACM to "retired", according to this page: https://www.eia.gov/electricity/gridmonitor/dashboard/electric_overview/balancing_authority/WAUW
What zones are affected?
US-NW-WACM
What is the problem?
On 31 Mar 2026, the US EIA dataset changed US-NW-WACM to "retired". However, this BA is still shown on electricity maps's "regions" map, with all data correctly hashed out ("not available") since then.
The better way would be to integrate WACM's former mapped territory into whatever BA that data is now reflected in. I know there was also some reorganization in terms of expanding SWPP's territory, which may have taken over some or all of the former WACM territory. However, I have no idea how/where this is now reported in EIA or elsewhere.
If WACM is now fully a part of SWPP, there is a further issue of most of SWPP territory being east of "the seam", but the former WACM territory is all west of the "the seam" IIRC. The seam is the division between the western and eastern interconnect that splits the US and other parts of North America into two non-synchronized AC grids, with AC-DC-AC links between these regions.
