PasteIntoFile supports images with transparent parts (alpha channel), such as PNG, GIF or TIF, as well as animated images, such as GIF. However, for this to work, the source program from where an image was copied must also support transparency.
The default format for images on the windows clipboard is the Bitmap format. Sadly this format does not support an alpha channel. But luckily there are many alternative ways to store image data in the clipboard which do support transparency. Most programs provide at least one of these alternative formats, and this allows us to pick the clipboard format suited best for saving it to the desired file format.
As of Version 5, the image preview will also correctly display transparency and animations depending on the selected file extension.
