Is there a plan to add support for incoming transitions to more prelude rules?

Basically what the title says. In particular, rules like cxx_binary would be particularly useful.

I'd be happy to raise a PR, but because this requires removing support for old school transitions (cfg and incoming transitions being mutually exclusive), I'm not sure that it would be accepted.

Can you work around this using aliases?

1. Aliases don't support incoming transitions either, so it's not an immediate option (although we could add it)
2. That would be a user-facing hack, so I'd rather do this properly if possible.

The alias rule is like 5 lines of starlark, see prelude/alias.bzl. You could make your own alias rule trivially that does support incoming transitions and use it as a workaround until your PR gets merged.
